I have been spending some time with Cinema 4D r13 and I must say that I am loving every part of this app. Maxon pulled off a beautiful release here. I was initially excited about the Character animation tools and soon realised that the physical renderer is where the bussiness is! I am on day 4 with playing around with some of the new features and I must say that the renderer has taken up most of that time!
Am I ever glad i bought a 7D! the physical renderer boasts cameras that have real world settings like iso, F-stop and exposure. All this lends to being able to creat really good looking render really quickly. I will get round to the character tools too which was my initial concern and play around with that a bit more. My humble opinion if anyone from Maxon should read this:
Please work on a proper skin shader. This is nowhere near things like ssskin or the like. We need features like epidermal and subdermal skin features!
Please include a face rigging tool. You "character object is already creating such a wide Gap from the competition. Introducing a tool like a face rigger would blow them away!
Better documentation... this documentation you have here isnt too inspiring...
We havent seen anything happenning with Pyrocluster? do you realise the damage krakatoa and other Max plugins are making?
Optimise the renderer... Its new and i love it but render tests on a number of threads still shows Vray as the faster one. maybe its too soon for me to say?
